Clara Tauson’s next match has not been scheduled yet. Clara Tauson ended her 2026 season on 14 October after a calf injury in Wuhan. Clara Tauson has ended her 2026 season because of injuries, and her first tournament of 2027 has not been announced yet. The first Grand Slam of the year, the Australian Open, is played on 17–31 January 2027.

As soon as she appears on an entry list and the order of play is out, the match shows up in the card at the top with the tournament, round, opponent and start time in Danish time (CET). Until then, this page explains what is known about her break and what the start of the season usually looks like.

When does Clara Tauson play next?

As of 25 October 2026 there is no official date for her return. When she ended her season on 14 October 2026, she withdrew from Osaka and Tokyo and said she would spend the rest of the year on targeted rehab and fitness training – and on her first proper holiday in ten years. She has not named a tournament she is aiming for.

Traditionally the tennis year starts in Australia and New Zealand in the first weeks of January. The WTA calendar for 2027 has the United Cup team event (1–10 January), the Brisbane International (3–10 January), the ASB Classic in Auckland (4–10 January), which Clara Tauson won in 2025, and Adelaide and Hobart the week after (11–16 January). The Australian Open in Melbourne follows from 17 to 31 January 2027. In 2026 she started in Brisbane, then played Adelaide and the Australian Open, where she reached the third round.

None of the entry lists for the Australian events contain players yet, so we cannot say where she will start. The first tournaments of the season are listed with their status in the Clara Tauson schedule, and we only mark a tournament as confirmed once her name is on the official list.

Clara Tauson’s next tournament – what we know

In short: she is not entered in any tournament for the rest of 2026, and her first tournament of 2027 has not been announced. When the WTA publishes the entry lists for the January events, the card at the top updates automatically – including if she decides to skip the warm-up events and start in Melbourne.

Clara Tauson injury: why she is not playing

The reason is injury. On 12 October 2026 she retired in round 1 of the Wuhan Open against Marie Bouzková, trailing 1-6, 0-2, with a calf injury. Two days later came the announcement that her season was over. She described the year herself as a season with more lows than highs.

The back problems in 2026

The calf was only the last chapter of a year in which her back caused the most trouble. The pain started in March at Indian Wells and Miami, where she retired against Katie Boulter. She withdrew from Linz and Stuttgart and retired in her first match in Rome in May. On 22 May 2026 she told TV 2 that she has two herniated discs in her back. She called it chronic but chose not to have surgery, planning to train and play through it.

After that she went more than 100 days without a win, until she beat Diana Shnaider in Bad Homburg on 22 June. In total she retired from four matches in 2026: in Adelaide, Miami, Rome and Wuhan. The season ended 16-23, and she is now No. 54 in the world (as of 19 October 2026). You can follow the week-by-week fall on the Clara Tauson ranking page.

TV 2’s tennis expert Peter Bastiansen said on 15 October 2026 that her serve had declined and her movement had been restricted, and he called for a full diagnosis and a plan for 2027. She has not made such a plan public. As of 25 October 2026 the WTA still lists her boyfriend Kasper Elsvad as her coach.

Is Clara Tauson ill?

No illness has been reported in 2026 – the break is down to injuries. The only illnesses documented in her career are a withdrawal from Doha in February 2025 through illness and a heat collapse in Guangzhou in September 2023, when she left the court in a wheelchair. No chronic illness has been reported.

How this page shows her next match

Once she is playing again, the card at the top shows her next match as soon as the order of play is published – usually the evening before. It shows:

  • the tournament, its category (Grand Slam, WTA 1000, 500 or 250) and the city,
  • the round and the opponent – or that the opponent is still to be decided,
  • the start time converted to Danish time,
  • the TV channel in Denmark with a link to the legal stream,
  • the result of her last match.

During the match the card switches to the live score. If she is knocked out, it moves on to the next tournament she is entered in. Channels are listed on where to watch Clara Tauson, and the score can be followed on the Clara Tauson live score page.

Start times in Danish time

Tennis rarely runs to a fixed clock. Only the first match on each court has a set start time; later matches are listed as “followed by” or “not before”, so a long match before hers can push the start back by an hour or more. We always convert to Danish time and correct it if the tournament changes the schedule.

The time difference matters a lot in January. Melbourne is ten hours ahead of Denmark and Auckland twelve hours ahead, so matches in Australia and New Zealand are usually played during the night or the morning in Danish time. In the Middle East in February the gap is only a few hours, while matches in the United States often start in the afternoon or evening Danish time.
