Clara Tauson's coach is Kasper Elsvad, who is also her boyfriend. He has coached her since September 2024 and is listed as her coach on her official WTA profile. Before him, Lars Christensen, the Spaniard Carlos Martínez and the Belgian Olivier Jeunehomme all worked with her – here is the full story from her junior club to today.
Who is Clara Tauson's coach?
As of 25 October 2026, her coach is Kasper Elsvad. Born in 1998, he is a former Danish player who won the national under-18 title in 2015 for KB. He took over in September 2024 and was first registered as her coach at the Thailand Open in Hua Hin.
In December 2025 Tauson told TV 2 that her team consisted of Elsvad alone, with a plan to try a fitness coach for parts of 2026. Whether a fitness coach or physio actually joined the team permanently, we have not found. After her season ended in October 2026, TV 2 expert Peter Bastiansen called for a full diagnosis of her injuries and a clear plan for 2027. Her team for next season had not been announced as of 25 October 2026.

The junior years
Lars Christensen coached her from the age of about nine at HIK. Kenneth Carlsen and Tine Scheuer-Larsen were also involved at the club in 2016–2018, and her uncle, former ATP player Michael Tauson, was assistant coach and club manager. On the road her father, Søren Tauson, often travelled as coach and companion – see Clara Tauson's parents. According to Ekstra Bladet, she also did fitness work with boxing coach Poul Duvil in the winter of 2017/18. Her junior career ended with the 2019 Australian Open girls' title and the junior world No. 1 ranking.
Olivier Jeunehomme and Carlos Martínez
The Justine Henin Academy (2019–2022)
From autumn 2019 she trained at Justine Henin's academy in Limelette, Belgium, with Olivier Jeunehomme as her coach. With him she won her first two WTA titles, Lyon and Luxembourg in 2021, and finished that year at No. 44. The partnership ended on 1 December 2022; according to TV 2, the family could not afford to renew the contract. It was a breakthrough spell: in 2021 she won Lyon as a qualifier, the WTA 125 event in Chicago (beating Emma Raducanu in the final) and reached the Courmayeur final. Her WTA profile still says she trains at the Justine Henin Academy, but that is out of date. In January 2023 she had no fixed coach and worked in Menton, France, with a physio and a fitness trainer.
Carlos Martínez (2023)
Around late April 2023 the Spaniard Carlos Martínez, a former coach of Daria Kasatkina, started working with her at a Challenger event in Reus. We have not found when that partnership ended. In 2023 she returned to the top 100 and finished the year at No. 85.
Clara Tauson and Lars Christensen
In November 2023 she went back to her junior coach. Lars Christensen had coached Holger Rune for many years and now became Tauson's coach on the WTA Tour. That period brought her then-best Grand Slam result – the fourth round at the 2024 French Open (Roland Garros), where she lost to Ons Jabeur – and a place at the Paris 2024 Olympics. She also reached the final of the WTA 125 event in Oeiras in April 2024. The partnership ended in September 2024 when Elsvad took over. More on Clara Tauson and Holger Rune.
Kasper Elsvad: boyfriend and coach
When Elsvad took over, TV 2 noted his limited coaching experience. Their first full season together was nevertheless her best: the Auckland title in January 2025, the Dubai final, the Wimbledon fourth round, the Montreal semifinal and world No. 12 on 8 September 2025. In a January 2026 interview with Eurosport he said, according to the outlet, that he does not discuss tennis with others and trusts himself technically and tactically.
2026 was harder: back problems from March and the diagnosis of two herniated discs in May, and at Roland Garros 2026 she had to do without her coach for family reasons, Eurosport reported. Clara Tauson ended her 2026 season on 14 October after a calf injury in Wuhan. More on the couple on the Clara Tauson boyfriend page, and the full timeline on Clara Tauson's career.
Does Clara Tauson have an Italian coach?
No. Clara Tauson does not have an Italian coach, and we have found no source saying she ever had one. The searches probably stem from a TV 2 article of 16 January 2026 about her practising with an Italian top player: in Melbourne before the Australian Open she trained with Jasmine Paolini. Paolini was a practice partner, not a coach, and Kasper Elsvad was there as her coach. Players practising together at tournaments is common on the tour and says nothing about who coaches whom.
